Primal Media's subversive reality series, The Underdog: Josh Must Win, has won a top prize at the C21 International Format Awards in Cannes.
The show, which was developed and produced by the STV Studios label and GroupM Motion Entertainment for Channel 4 earlier this year, took home the Best Reality Format award at the prestigious ceremony last night.
The C21 International Format Awards are voted on by a panel of the world's leading format commissioners, buyers and producers, and celebrate excellence in the global formats business.
The other international series shortlisted for the award were the UK's I Kissed a Girl, Italy's Seven Year Switch, Mexico's Temptation Island, and Belgium's The Political Assembly and The Expedition: Greenland.
The Underdog: Josh Must Win sees host Nick Grimshaw join reality TV veterans Vicky Pattison, Amber Gill and Pete Wicks to try to secretly rig a reality show to make 'regular guy' Josh the winner among a polished cast of contestants.
Last year, STV Studios and NBCUniversal signed a series development deal for the format in the US.
